In this piece I imagined the hatching of a fictional winged monster, a pterysk. In my imagination, pterysk mothers abandon their young, so a single pterysk hatches not knowing who or what they are. The first movement is the young monster slowly struggling from its egg, the second is a kind of elemental moment where they understand they are alive and alone, with the third movement the young pterysk takes flight.
