THE EMUC RETURN FOR A SEVENTH EDITION IN MONTREAL!

Montreal, August 27, 2026 Before unveiling its full season programming, Quasar saxophone quartet extends the summer with the return of the Escouades Musicales Urbaines Contemporaines (EMUC). These free outdoor concerts highlight the meeting point between new music, classical music, jazz, and the Montréal public. For this seventh edition, the quartet renews its collaboration with the Journées des ruelles vertes, presenting four concerts in various neighbourhoods across the city.

Driven by four saxophone virtuosos, the EMUC offer original, vibrant, and festive programs. These concerts bring music to life at the heart of the metropolis, reaching citizens of all ages and backgrounds.

Quasar biography
Renowned for its energy, distinctive sound, and bold artistic vision, Quasar has been exploring the many dimensions of contemporary musical creation since 1994. A highly versatile ensemble, the quartet masters a wide range of practices, from chamber music to multidisciplinary creations, improvisation, electroacoustic work, and musical theatre. Winner of 11 OPUS Awards, including Artist of the Year, Quasar stands out through its close collaborations with today’s composers, actively contributing to the evolution of the contemporary musical landscape.

Quasar presents a concert series in Montréal and performs regularly across Canada and on the international stage. In addition to its commitment to creation, the ensemble offers concerts featuring a wide repertoire—from classical to jazz—showcasing the many faces of the saxophone.
