It is during my 2003 residency at the Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia in Bamberg, Germany, that my work took a new direction, my approach and my works thenceforth aiming on the transmission of sound matter that would address the reality of the listening body. The following works unfolded with resonances and suspended time and gradually led to an examination of the traditional concert format. Then comes the installation-concert, of which we present to you this evening yet another exploration; because it is a question each time of being inspired by the place, its limits and possibilities, to develop an all-encompassing and dynamic listening device; because it is a question of letting the sound live as close as possible to the listening body, which in turn makes the place vibrate. Thus, the threshold is underlined with light and sounds to welcome in an immediacy of listening, in a particular atmosphere, in this place where the affects of everyone, of a whole world, in constant transformation, come together; the installation-concert as a porous spherical environment, a large bubble filled with interconnected bubbles, musicians, resonances, listeners, sounds... you, us, in a living, vibrant milieu. - Chantale Laplante
