Amortisseur Harmonique seeks to appreciate the musical characteristic that makes multiphonics unique, most prominently their large-scale static quality and their rich internal rhythmic world, and create a cohesive compositional language with which a multiphonic “story” could be told. In this story, multiphonics are treated as massive alien-like absorbant forces that are observed and contrasted by a dance-like series of smaller rhythmic gestures. Over the course of the piece both the multiphonics and their observant material are developed additively into longer lines.
