Philipp Henkel
(1994 - )
Philipp Henkel is a composer born in Germany studying at the University of Music Hannover with Ming Tsao, Gordon Williamson and Joachim Heintz.
In the past he has written a numerous pieces for different instrumentations. Since 2018 he has been working on his installation Panopticon surrounding the ambiguity of technology especially surveillance technology.
Panopticon will make use of a newly developed A.I. based program for sound synthesis that Philipp developed for this installation.
In his master;s studies he seems to be more concerned in fluidity and viscosity in musical expression and opening expression to a non-anthropocentric realm, a prime example for this is his saxophone quartet for Quasar called „Torso“.
His pieces have been performed by Hand Werk, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Axe and Pile.
