Miguel Vélez

Miguel Vélez is a Mexican composer and guitarist. He completed his professional studies at the Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey, where he earned a degree in composition under the guidance of Maestro Eduardo Caballero and in guitar with Maestro Pedro Salcedo. His work includes pieces for solo instruments, chamber music, and orchestra.
His compositions have been performed in Mexico, Spain, Austria, and Italy by nationally and internationally renowned ensembles and soloists such as Vertixe Sonora, Ensamble CEPROMUSIC, Ars Nova Ensemble, Arditti Quartet, José White Quartet, Oman Kaminsky, and Ensamble Noodus, among others.
He has participated in numerous contemporary music festivals and forums, including Labyrinths Sounds (Mexico, 2017), Festival Acanthes (France, 2011), Festival Internacional de Música Nueva Darmstadt (Germany, 2010), and the Foro Internacional de Música Nueva Manuel Enríquez (Mexico, 2013, 2023, and 2025).
He is currently a composer and guitarist with Duo Vélez and teaches music theory at the Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey.
