Quatuor op. 109
Composer:
Alexandre Glazounov
It was in the City of Light that Glazounov first heard the saxophonists of the Garde Républicaine, and he was deeply impressed by the sound of this new instrument. From this discovery emerged the Quartet, Op. 109 (1932), one of the rare Romantic works written for saxophone quartet, as well as a concerto for alto saxophone and string orchestra (1933).
