Ondes passerelles

Concert

Description

Building on Dialogues intercontinentaux, presented in February 2024, Ondes passerelles explores intercultural dialogue through a program that brings contemporary Western music into conversation with diverse musical traditions from around the world. By fostering encounters between composers and performers from different cultural backgrounds, the project embraces a spirit of exchange, collaboration, and shared creativity.

For this occasion, two new works will receive their world premieres: a new composition for saxophone quartet, voice, and piano by Jesse Plessis based on a text from Au vent de la piroguière – Tifaifai by Flora Aurima Devantine, and And in the End Was Solitude (on Rāst-Panjgāh) by Jimmie LeBlanc, for santur and saxophone quartet. The program will also feature De distance et toucher by Julien Malaussena for saxophones and koto, as well as Bueno Ueno by Dai Fujikura for soprano saxophone and taiko.

For this performance, Quasar will be joined by soprano Brittany Rae, Amir Amiri on santur, Sarah Pagé on koto, Toby Kimura on saxophone, the taiko duo Ame no ato (Stephen Chan and Valerie Hongoh), and pianist Ludovic Rochon.
