The title of the work is an amalgamation of the words Saxophone and Phoenix. In Greek mythology, the phoenix is a magnificent bird that regenerates itself in a cyclical fashion. Once a life cycle is over, the bird catches fire, before being reborn from its own ashes. The form of Saxopho(e)nix is also cyclical, even circular. Through a continuous flow of vibrational sounds, each development returns us to the original movement, where the sonic material regenerates in cycles and unfolds in new ways.
