David Cronkite

Musician, composer and teacher David Cronkite has created over 15 original instrumental, electroacoustic and interactive works as well as music for theatre (Soulfishing Theatre), spoken word (Catherine Kidd) and dance (Trial & Eros).

Holder of a Ph.D. in Music from the Université de Montréal, he received scholarships and developed the "Probe" improvisation and composition software in the MaxMSP environment. David Cronkite has created over 15 original instrumental, electroacoustic and interactive works as well as music for theatre (Soulfishing Theatre), spoken word (Catherine Kidd) and dance (Trial & Eros). He has also taught musical computer applications at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.

As a musician, he has performed with the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, ACREQ, Codes d´Accès and the Orchestre de l'Université de Montréal. David Cronkite was the recipient of the 2004 Joseph S. Stauffer Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts.
