Broadway Boogie-Woogie
A production of the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec
Description
The Société de musique contemporaine du Québec is celebrating its 50th anniversary this season! And taking the opportunity to revisit some of the emblematic works of its repertoire on a festive note. The programme will highlight the richness of some wild, rhythmic writing (Andriessen, Nancarrow) while also allowing you to discover our founding composers (Papineau-Couture, Pierre Mercure). A concert at the crossroads of influences, therefore, not unlike Andriessen’s masterpiece De Materie, whose jazzy and boogie-woogie sounds were inspired by the lines of Mondrian’s seminal modernist painting Broadway Boogie-Woogie. This will be a unique event that makes the brass dance, and the voices twirl while celebrating culture in all its forms!
